What happens when art offers a different pathway into mindfulness, one that moves between noticing what is around us and noticing what arises within? In this Learning Forum, Jolien Posthumus invites participants into a shared exploration of Mindfulness in Art, and of how engaging our senses through art can become a doorway into awareness, presence and connection. Drawing on her work with Mindfulness in Museums, Jolien will introduce an approach that gives particular attention to external noticing before gently moving towards internal experience. Jolien Posthumus is a mindfulness teacher and teacher trainer based in the Netherlands, with a particular interest in the intersection of mindfulness, mental health and the arts. She is founder of Mindfulness in Museums, an international platform and knowledge hub exploring the intersection of mindfulness, art and cultural settings through programmes, collaborations and teacher trainings. At the invitation of Oxford Mindfulness, she developed the Specialist Mindfulness in Art teacher training. Her work sits within the growing fields of Arts & Health and Culture & Care, exploring the role that art and cultural experiences can play in human flourishing.
